What is published about passing
No pass rate is published for this exam.
Each subtest of the General Knowledge Test is passed on its own against a scaled score of 200. The Florida Department of Education publishes what that is worth as a percentage of correct answers: 63% for English Language Skills, 70% for Reading, 63% for Mathematics. Those are maximums - a harder form of a subtest may require slightly fewer correct answers. The Essay is scored by two independent raters whose scores are added, and Rule 6A-4.0021 sets the passing total at 6. We teach the Essay in a chapter of its own and we do not mark essays: our questions and scores cover the three multiple-choice subtests. If you fail one subtest you retake only that subtest.

- Passed subtest by subtest against a scaled score of 200. The state publishes what that is worth: at most 63% correct for English Language Skills, at most 70% for Reading, at most 63% for Mathematics.
- Format
- Four subtests, registered and passed separately: an essay, English Language Skills (30 questions), Reading (30 questions) and Mathematics (35 questions). Delivered at a Pearson test center.
- Sittings
- On demand. Book any open Pearson appointment, and take the subtests in any combination you like.
- Results
- Multiple-choice subtests are scored immediately; the essay is rated by two people and takes about four weeks.
- Valid for
- A passing subtest score does not expire. You keep it and retake only what you failed.

Is this everything I need, or do I still need the official material?
The whole examinable syllabus is taught here across 3 topics, and every one of the 950 questions is written against it. We are independent of Florida Department of Education and this is not their publication - if they require you to hold an official study guide, hold it. What this replaces is the second and third thing you would otherwise buy: a question bank, and something to explain the answers.
Where do the answers come from?
Every explanation names the provision it rests on and quotes it where quoting is allowed, so you can go and read the rule. Where we have not been able to put the underlying text in front of you, the page says so rather than implying a source it does not have.
How long will I need?
Our estimate for this paper is about 42 hours - 1 hour a day for 6 weeks. That is our figure and not Florida Department of Education's. Tell us your exam date when you start and the plan, the reminders and the readiness score are all worked back from it.
Can I see it before I pay?
Yes, and without an account: a 10-question diagnostic that scores you by topic, one full 95-question mock paper, and the opening pages of every PDF. What you pay for is the explanations, the lessons and the other 4 papers.
What happens if I fail?
Your access runs 12 months, which covers a resit; Florida Department of Education charges USD 32.50 per subtest, after 30 days for one. The final-review screen orders what you got wrong by what each mistake costs on the paper, which is where a second attempt should start.
Can I get a refund?
Full refund within 7 days if no more than 20% of paid lessons and practice are used, no paid study guide is downloaded, and no more than one paid mock is started.
