Read the score report properly
You leave the center with a printed report breaking your performance down by content area. It is the only genuinely diagnostic information you will get, and most people glance at it once.
Find the two weakest areas. Those get the majority of the next month.
Resist the urge to restudy everything evenly. You were 87 correct answers away and probably closer than it felt; spreading effort thinly is what produced the first result.
What not to do
Re-read the 20-hour course. It did not get you there the first time and it will not the second, because it was never built for this.
Book for day 31. The wait is 30 days, but the earliest legal date is not the same as the right date.

Calculations get daily attention throughout, not a block. They decay faster than anything else.
A third consecutive fail means waiting 180 days rather than 30. If you are going into attempt three, prepare for it as the one that has to work rather than another roll of the dice.
Does a fail matter afterwards
Your test history is held in NMLS and a sponsoring employer with access to your record can see it. It does not bar you from being licensed and there is no limit on total attempts.
What counts for the license is the pass. The attempts before it are history rather than disqualification.
