No. The FTCE General Knowledge Test is delivered at a Pearson test center, in person. What happens online is the registration: you register through the FTCE/FELE testing site, then book an open appointment, and you have one year from registering to book it.
The confusion is understandable, because the whole process up to the door is online and the test itself is on a computer. It is still a test center.

Registration and booking are two steps, and the one-year deadline attaches to the first one. Register in January and you have until the following January to find a slot.
What being at a center changes
The tools are supplied rather than yours. An on-screen calculator and a mathematics reference sheet are provided during the Mathematics subtest, per the FTCE Test Structure document, and you do not bring a device of your own. Identification requirements are the testing program's and are published on its site.
It also means travel, which is the real cost of splitting the four subtests across four appointments rather than sitting the full battery in one.
What we cannot promise
That an at-home option will never exist. Delivery arrangements are the vendor's, they changed across the testing industry more than once in recent years, and we hold FLDOE's documents rather than Pearson's. What we can say is that the Test Structure document and the fact base behind this site describe a test center, and nothing we hold describes remote proctoring for this examination.

Preparing online is a different question
Nothing stops you preparing entirely online, and no Florida teacher preparation program examines this test in-house, so nothing about your study route is prescribed. The syllabus is Section 82 of the competencies, which a state rule incorporates by reference, and you can read it for nothing before you spend anything.
