Use Pearson’s current locator, not an old list

Pearson VUE administers the Texas insurance licensing exam program. To find where you can sit the Texas Personal Lines Property and Casualty exam, start at Pearson’s Texas insurance program page and select the test-center finder or begin scheduling the exam. Search by ZIP code or city, then confirm that the exact Personal Lines exam code and date are available at that location.

Do not rely on a static city list copied from an old handbook or map. Test-center locations, opening days, appointment capacity, and accessible options can change. Pearson’s candidate handbook instructs candidates to contact Pearson to confirm specific locations and schedules. The appointment confirmation is the practical source for the center you selected; check it again before travel.

Choosing a convenient center

When comparing locations, look beyond distance. Check the exact street address, parking or transit, local traffic patterns, appointment time, operating hours, and the time required to complete check-in. Pearson’s handbook says candidates should report 30 minutes before the exam begins. A site that appears close on a map may require extra travel time during rush hour or may have limited parking.

Select a location only after confirming the exam appointment can actually be booked there. A center may offer other Pearson exams but not have open inventory for the insurance exam on your preferred date. The booking flow shows the choices available for the selected program. If a location does not appear, do not assume walk-ins are accepted; the handbook states that walk-in examinations are not available.

Candidates in rural areas may need to consider multiple cities and dates. Look for the nearest available center through the official locator, compare travel costs, and decide whether a weekday appointment or a later date is more realistic. Scheduling farther ahead can help with planning, but the correct lead time depends on current availability. Pearson’s program page says appointments may be made up to one calendar day before the desired testing day, subject to availability; do not treat that as a guarantee of a seat.

Book through the Texas insurance program

Use Pearson’s Texas insurance page to create or access the exam account. Confirm your legal name and other personal details match the identification you will present. Pearson warns that account information appears on documentation and reports sent to the licensing agency, so correct errors before test day. Select the exam title, language, center, and appointment time deliberately.

The current English Personal Lines exam code is InsTX-PersPC55; Pearson’s handbook also lists a Spanish Personal Lines exam. Confirm the selected exam corresponds to the license you intend to obtain. General Lines Property and Casualty is a separate license exam with a different scope. A candidate may travel to the right center and still have a problem if they booked the wrong test code.

Pearson and TDI describe steps before and after the appointment: exam registration, fingerprinting where required, exam completion, and license application. The test-center reservation is not a TDI application. Passing the exam is also not the license itself; apply with TDI within the required timeframe and verify license issuance before acting as an agent.

Plan for exam-day check-in

Read the current handbook before you leave. Pearson says candidates should arrive 30 minutes before the exam begins. Bring the required identification forms, with names matching the registration. The handbook describes acceptable primary government-issued photo identification and a separate valid signature ID. It also cautions that expired identification is not accepted merely because a government agency allows a grace period.

Allow time for check-in, security screening, storing personal items, and the computer tutorial. Pearson says tutorial time does not reduce the allotted exam time. Personal items such as phones, notes, and watches are restricted in the testing room. Review the handbook’s exact rules instead of assuming that another exam provider has the same procedures.

If traffic, weather, a public transit issue, or a family emergency threatens your arrival, use Pearson’s change/cancel or absence instructions. Contact Pearson promptly and keep any case number or confirmation. A late arrival may be treated as an absence and may forfeit the fee unless the applicable policy provides a qualifying exception.

For weather closures or unsafe conditions, Pearson may delay or cancel an appointment and notify candidates. Check your email and Pearson account before departing during severe weather. Do not travel to a location if the center has closed or Pearson has sent a rescheduling notice.

What if the closest test center has no appointments?

Search a wider radius and additional dates. The center list is not the same as appointment inventory, and a site may have no seat at the time you search. You can also contact Pearson customer service through the Texas program page to ask about scheduling help. Do not pay an outside party who claims to reserve a seat unless Pearson’s system shows a confirmed appointment.

If you must travel, account for lodging or transport costs in your budget. Consider a center near your workplace or a transit route, but verify the specific address and arrival time. A confirmation email may include location directions; retain it offline in case connectivity is unreliable on the day.

Candidates may also consider accessible testing sites or accommodation needs before booking. Pearson’s accommodations process is separate from the general location search. If the requested support is not visible in the reservation, contact Pearson rather than assume it has been arranged.

Location choice does not change the exam

The same state exam content and passing standard apply across authorized test centers. Choosing a particular city does not change the question count, time limit, or exam difficulty. The English exam has 110 administered questions in the current outline, including 10 pretest items, and Pearson lists 120 minutes. Use the outline for content and the handbook for logistics.

The center’s administrator can explain identification, security, and computer navigation but cannot advise on insurance coverage or Texas law. If you have a content question before the appointment, use the official outline and study sources. At check-in, follow the administrator’s directions and raise a technical issue promptly.

A center may look like an office suite or shared testing facility rather than a dedicated insurance school. That does not change Pearson’s security requirements. Verify the entrance, floor, parking, and check-in desk from the confirmation and official directions so you are not searching for the site at the appointment time.

Before you reserve: short checklist

Confirm exam name and code, exam language, candidate account spelling, preferred date, exact center address, cancellation rule, fee, and identification requirements. If you need accommodations, begin that process early. If your application depends on an exam result, calendar TDI’s application deadline and fingerprint instructions as a separate task.

Save the confirmation email and add the location to a navigation app in advance. Check the route and expected traffic at the actual appointment time. Plan to arrive early enough for the handbook’s check-in period rather than aiming to arrive at the start time.
