The practice questions are the part people cut. They are also the part that most reliably moves a score.
Who needs less
A processor or underwriter who works with these disclosures daily. The vocabulary is already there and the timeframes are muscle memory.
Even then, budget the calculation drills and both mocks. Familiarity with the paperwork is not the same as knowing which regulation requires it.
Who needs more
Anyone changing career into mortgages, and anyone who has been away from formal exams for a decade.
The second group is larger than people expect. Sitting still for 190 minutes and reading precisely is a skill that rusts, and it is worth rebuilding before exam day rather than on it.
Ten hours a week for five weeks beats fifty hours in a fortnight for this material, because the failure mode is confusing similar rules and that is fixed by spacing rather than by volume.
How to know when you are ready
Not by hours logged. By a full timed mock landing above 80%, twice, on different papers.
Eighty rather than seventy-five because a mock is not the real form, and a five-point buffer covers the gap between practicing and sitting.
