Every NMLS-approved provider delivers the same 20 hours with the same fixed split: 3 hours federal law, 3 ethics, 2 non-traditional mortgage lending, 12 electives. That part does not vary.

The exam prep question is the important one
The 20 hours is designed to satisfy a legal minimum, not to get you through a 120-question exam. Some providers bundle preparation and some sell it separately at a similar price again.
Sometimes it is a substantial question bank with explanations. Sometimes it is fifty questions with the correct letter and nothing else. The second is worth very little, and the phrase is used for both.
Self-paced against live
Self-paced suits people who are disciplined and short on time. Live instruction suits people who want to ask questions and benefit from a schedule imposed on them.
Neither is better. Be honest about which one you will actually finish.
What not to choose on
Price alone, at this end of the range. The gap between the cheapest and dearest course is smaller than the cost of a failed attempt and a 30-day wait.
