Five kinds of material exist: the free state documents, books, question banks, taught courses and essay marking. The state documents are definitive and cost nothing. Everything you pay for buys weighting, timed practice or a human reader. Work out which of those three you are short of before you buy.
Most material comparisons for this test rank products. That is the wrong axis, because the four subtests fail people for different reasons and the products are not competing for the same job.
Start with what the state gives away.
The free material here is unusually strong
The syllabus for this examination is not a study guide someone wrote. It's Section 82 of Competencies and Skills Required for Teacher Certification in Florida, Twenty-Eighth Edition, and Rule 6A-4.0021 incorporates it by reference, which makes it part of a state administrative rule. Ten competencies and 57 skills across the three multiple-choice subtests, plus one competency and 11 skills for the essay. That's the specification. Nothing a publisher writes can be more authoritative than it.

Read the competencies for your weakest subtest before you spend anything. It takes an evening and it changes what you buy.

Which of those you're short of
Take the free diagnostic route first. Sit something timed, per subtest, and see whether you're losing marks because you don't know the material or because you ran out of clock. Those are different failures and they have different fixes.
- You haven't done algebra since school: a study guide or a taught course, then a bank. Mathematics is the longest subtest at 100 minutes and the one people most often rebuild from scratch
- You know the content and still failed: a question bank with full-length timed forms, because the problem is pace or reading, not knowledge
- You failed the essay only: a human reader, and nothing else. No product that scores multiple choice touches it
- You're a strong reader who's rusty on commas and pronouns: English Language Skills is mostly conventions, and drilling is cheap
The test of a serious product
Ask it what the pass mark is. If the answer is a single percentage for the whole General Knowledge Test, the product doesn't understand the examination. There isn't one. Each subtest passes at a scaled score of 200, and the Department publishes three different percentages of correct answers for that scaled 200, each of them a maximum rather than a fixed line.
Second question: does it cover the essay, and does it say whether a person reads what you write? Plenty of products teach the essay and score nothing. Ours is one of them, which we'll come back to.

We teach the essay subtest in a chapter of its own and we do not mark essays. Competitors do offer essay feedback and that's a real gap in what we sell, not a footnote. If the essay is your problem, buy the thing that fixes the essay.
The opinion we'd defend: for this examination the free material is good enough that most candidates could pass on it alone, and what people actually buy is the discipline to work through it. That's a fair thing to sell. It's not the same as selling knowledge you can't get elsewhere, and any provider claiming otherwise is describing a different test.
One more thing to check before any of this. Rule 6A-4.0021(12) lets qualifying GRE, SAT, ACT or CLT scores satisfy the requirement subtest by subtest, so read the alternative-score table before you buy any material at all. Some readers stop there, and they're right to.

What are the best FTCE General Knowledge study materials?
The state documents are free and definitive: Rule 6A-4.0021, Section 82 of the Twenty-Eighth Edition, the Test Structure document and the Maximum Percentages table. Beyond those, buy whichever of weighting, timed practice or a human essay reader you're actually missing.
Do I need to buy anything to pass?
No. The syllabus is part of a state rule and it's published free, along with the question counts, the minutes and the pass marks. Paid material buys structure, diagnosis and timed full-length practice, which most people find worth having and nobody strictly needs.
Which material covers the essay?
Very few score it. The essay is rated by at least two qualified people whose scores are summed, with a passing total of 6, so scoring it needs a human. We teach the essay subtest and don't mark essays. Buy essay feedback separately if that's your weak subtest.
How do I tell a good provider from a bad one?
