When Kaplan is the better fit
Choose Kaplan Premium if scheduled teaching will help you stay on track or if you want an instructor to answer questions as you study. A class can be especially useful when you know the material but need help turning a long curriculum into an exam review plan. The package also offers a substantial reference library and multiple delivery formats.
Kaplan’s Essential tier is a more like-for-like comparison with self-study. It removes the live class, so do not assume every feature described for Premium applies. Check the selected exam cycle and package page at checkout. Kaplan advertises PassProtection for eligible Premium students; review its conditions before assigning value to that promise.
When Sitonce is the better fit
Sitonce costs less and is built for independent review. You can move through the eight topics at your own pace, apply concepts in worked questions, and reserve separate material for five timed mock papers. It also gives you a longer access window than a cycle-based review for candidates who want to begin early or whose schedule is uncertain.
The tradeoff is clear: Sitonce does not provide Kaplan’s class, instructor email, or full CFP education textbooks. If you need help with foundational content or want a teacher to structure your week, the lower price may not compensate for that gap. If you have completed your Registered Program and mainly need application practice, it may be enough.
Do not compare pass claims as if they were a trial
Kaplan publishes a pass statistic for surveyed Premium students who completed the course and offers a conditional guarantee. Those are provider-reported results with eligibility conditions, not a randomized head-to-head comparison with Sitonce. Sitonce does not claim a pass rate. A practice score or provider guarantee cannot promise the result of your CFP Board exam.
CFP Board separates its education requirement from exam preparation. Confirm your own eligibility with CFP Board; a review purchase alone does not complete a Registered Program.
