A candidate who has read the outline properly is better oriented than most people who have paid for a course and not read it.
Why the regulations are genuinely usable
They are searchable, current and free. When two study sources disagree about a refill rule or a retention period, the regulation settles it in a minute.
That is unusual. On most exams the primary source is copyrighted and you are stuck with paraphrases.
Most were written before 6 January 2026 and are weighted to the old outline, giving Medications 40 percent and Federal Requirements 12.5. Working one will over-drill drug names and under-drill federal rules, which is precisely the failure the blueprint change created. Check the weighting before trusting the emphasis.
How to check a free source in thirty seconds
- Does it state Medications at 35 percent and Federal Requirements at 18.75?
- Does it mention serialization or the DSCSA?
- Does it claim a percentage pass mark? If so, it is wrong - the standard is a scaled 1,400
- Does it quote a pass rate? PTCB publishes none

A full-length timed paper on unseen questions, weighted to the current outline. That is the one measurement that tells you whether you are ready, and it is rarely available free.
