Candidates who inherited a study plan built for the old paper treat it as the small domain they can skim, which was defensible when it was 10 and is not now. It is also the domain where the answers are published federal regulation you can simply read, which makes underpreparing it doubly wasteful.
Hardest by time: Order Entry and Processing
Eighteen scored questions whose largest area is arithmetic, on a paper that gives about 73 seconds a question.
It is not conceptually hard. It costs more clock than any other domain, and the clock is the binding constraint.
The one people find easiest: Patient Safety
Nineteen scored questions, much of it reasoning a working technician already does. High-alert medications, look-alike sound-alike pairs, error prevention, when a pharmacist must intervene.
Experience helps here more than anywhere else, which is why the 500-hour route candidates often score best on it.
