Kaplan vs Sitonce for HKSI Paper 1

Kaplan Hong Kong and Sitonce offer two different kinds of Paper 1 preparation. Kaplan’s 2026 brochure lists a full online course with videos, course notes, a question bank, lecturer email support, and mock papers. Sitonce combines lessons, topic practice, and timed mock forms in a longer self-paced course. Kaplan’s separate Light Package is only an online question bank, so compare the correct tier.

Kaplan’s case is instruction and support

Kaplan’s Full Package is the stronger fit if you want video lessons and a contact point for questions. The brochure lists three mock exams, but clarifies that only the first mock receives an online review; the mock papers are printable soft copies. Optional private or group lessons are separate and quoted after assessment, so they should not be assumed to be included in the listed course price.

The shorter sixty-day access period can work well if your exam date is fixed and near. It may be less convenient if you are beginning early or expect work and other commitments to interrupt your schedule. The Light Package is a materially different product from the Full Package: it supplies a question bank, not the video-course teaching described above.

Sitonce’s case is time and cost

Sitonce costs substantially less and gives you twelve months to work through the course. It includes lessons, practice explanations linked to regulatory sources, and five timed mock forms. That makes it a useful option for a candidate who can study independently and does not need a video lecture or lecturer to stay on track.

The tradeoff is that Sitonce does not offer Kaplan’s lecturer access or video format. If a human instructor would resolve questions or help you stay accountable, a lower price may not meet the need. If you mainly need a syllabus path and repeated exam-shaped practice, compare the sample content before paying for support you might not use.

How to interpret old pass-rate claims

Kaplan’s 2026 brochure includes pass-rate figures with dates from 2023. Those figures are not current cohort evidence for the Paper 1 course and should not decide between these products. Neither provider supplies a comparable, independently audited head-to-head pass study here. Use the feature list, sample explanations, and your own study habits instead.

Choose Kaplan Full Package if video teaching and lecturer email support are worth the higher price and shorter access window.
