You passed all four. What happens next

Four subtests, four separate passes, and roughly a quarter of candidates manage all of them at the first attempt. That last figure is ours rather than the Department's, derived by multiplying the four published first-attempt rates, and the full working is on the difficulty page. If you are in that quarter, it was not nothing.

Now the unglamorous part.

When you actually know

The gap between the two lines at the top is the awkward bit. You walk out of the center knowing three of your four results and wait about a month for the essay, which means anyone who sat all four in one appointment is not finished on the day they think they are.

Do this in the first week

1. Find the original authenticated score report and put it somewhere you will find it in three years
2. Check that the Florida institution you named at registration actually received its copy, if you named one
3. Write down which subject area examination corresponds to the field you want to teach
4. Ask the Bureau of Educator Certification what your file still needs, in writing

The first item sounds like filing advice and is not. Rule 6A-4.0021(10) makes the original authenticated report the official documentation of your scores for a temporary or professional certificate, and a duplicate costs a written request and a fee. A passing subtest score never expires, so the report may need to survive a long time.

What you have not done

You have cleared one of three examination requirements. The subject area examination for your field and the professional education test are untouched, and both cost more per registration than a General Knowledge subtest does. Neither has an alternative-score route, so nothing you hold from an admissions test helps with them.

You cannot go back and improve it

Worth knowing so you do not think about it again. Paragraph (3)(e) bars retaking a passed examination, subtest or section, with three narrow exceptions in the rule, and scores are reported as Pass or Fail anyway. There is no better version of a pass to chase.

If you bought preparation from us

Then this is where our product stops being useful to you, and we would rather say that than keep you subscribed to something you no longer need. Our course covers the General Knowledge Test. It has nothing for the subject area examinations or the professional education test, and we are not a Florida-approved teacher preparation program, so nothing in your account counts toward your certification route.

One concession while we are being honest. We teach the essay subtest in a chapter of its own and we do not mark essays, so if you passed the essay at the first attempt you did the hardest part of that subtest without feedback from us. Some competitors do offer essay marking. If you had to resit the essay, that is a fair reason to have looked at them instead.

The number worth remembering

In 2025 the General Knowledge Test produced 34,252 subtest administrations from 10,120 unique examinees, an average of 3.38 administrations per person. Clearing four subtests in four sittings puts you meaningfully below that average, which is a better thing to know about your result than any single pass rate.
