We do not have a verified figure for this, and a wrong number here has real consequences: people book resits, accept start dates and give notice on the strength of when they expect a result.

Where to check
The examination handbook is the first stop, and it is free. The enrolment confirmation and exam centre information HKSI sends you is the second, because anything specific to your sitting will be stated there.
If a date matters commercially, for instance because an employer is holding a role open, ask HKSI directly rather than relying on what a colleague remembers from their own sitting a year ago. Administrative timings change.
Why we will not estimate it
Because you would act on it. That is the whole test we apply to any number on this site: if a reader could reasonably make a decision based on it, we either have a source or we say nothing.
Forum answers on this question are plentiful and contradictory, which is usually the signature of a rule that has changed at least once. A confident wrong answer would get us traffic and could cost you a booking fee.

That middle column is the one that matters. The hours immediately after the exam are the only time you can accurately reconstruct which questions you were guessing on, and that list is worth more than any post-mortem you write a fortnight later.
The waiting itself
Most candidates find the gap worse than the exam. With a 70% pass mark and no curve, the people who feel most uncertain are usually the ones who finished near the line, and finishing near the line is genuinely a coin flip.
Our opinion: assume you failed and keep working for a week. Not as pessimism, as insurance. If the result is a pass you have lost one week of evenings and gained momentum on your next paper; if it is a fail you have saved yourself the horrible restart from cold. Roughly 48.1% of candidates got the second outcome over the twelve months to June 2026.
The concession: that advice is easy to give and unpleasant to follow, and plenty of sensible people take the week off instead. If you do, put a date in the calendar for restarting. What happens if you fail covers the practical side, and the results page has more on the notification process.
Common questions
Does HKSI show your Paper 1 result on screen?
The paper is computer-based, but what the screen shows at the end and what the formal notification contains are HKSI's to decide, and we have not verified the current arrangement. Check the examination handbook rather than relying on secondhand accounts.
Can I book my resit before the result arrives?
Sittings run monthly in Hong Kong, so the option usually exists, but rebooking before you know is how people pay HKD 1,800 for an exam they did not need. Wait for the notification unless a hard deadline forces the risk.
Will my employer see my result before I do?
That depends on whether your firm sponsored the enrolment and what it arranged with HKSI. If it matters to you, ask your compliance team how their arrangement works before you sit, not afterwards.
