The deadline to register is not the deadline to finish coursework or the date you book with Prometric. Treat those as three separate checkpoints. CFP Board publishes fee cutoffs for each exam administration; the October 2026 calendar below is the current published example.

The final registration deadline is October 13, 2026. CFP Board lists October 6 in both the standard closing row and the late opening row. Its separate September 2026 notice says the price increases after October 6; the public table does not specify the cutoff hour. Check the price in your CFP Board account before you pay.
Education verification
For this October 2026 exam, CFP Board lists October 6 as the education verification deadline. You may register while finishing the required financial planning coursework, but CFP Board needs to receive verification by the deadline for your selected administration before you can sit. Do not treat payment or a booked appointment as proof that the education requirement has cleared.
2027 registration openings
CFP Board has announced the March 16 to 23, 2027 exam window, with registration opening October 21, 2026 and education verification due February 23, 2027. It has also announced the July 13 to 20, 2027 window, with registration opening February 17, 2027 and education verification due June 22, 2027. The full early, standard and late fee-tier dates for those administrations were not published in the official schedule. Do not reuse the October 2026 cutoffs for them.
Booking your appointment
Register and pay through CFP Board first. When CFP Board confirms eligibility, follow its instructions to choose a Prometric testing appointment. An exam window is a range of possible days, not a reservation. The actual date and center depend on availability when you book. CFP Board recommends registering at least 60 days ahead to give yourself more choices.
Keep your payment confirmation, CFP Board eligibility message and Prometric appointment confirmation together. Check the name on your appointment against the identification you will bring on exam day. If you need to change an appointment, read the current rescheduling and cancellation policy before acting.
