Can You Take the Texas Life Agent Exam on a Military Base?

The answer and its limits

Pearson’s handbook states Texas insurance exams are available at select Pearson VUE centers on military installations across the globe. This makes an on-base test a possible option, but not every base has a center or offers InsTX-Life01 on every date. The appointment search and site access rules determine whether an individual can use a specific location.

Start from Pearson’s official Texas insurance examination page and use the test-center search or on-base link. Pearson’s military scheduling page directs candidates to locate an authorized center and select the sponsor. Confirm that the Texas Department of Insurance is the sponsor and that the Life Agent code is available. Do not book another insurance exam by mistake.

Being eligible for the Texas exam does not automatically grant access to a military installation. Visitors may need sponsor approval, a visitor pass, or credentials required by that base. Contact the installation or center for entry rules before booking. Pearson’s appointment confirmation may not clear the gate; make sure you can reach the site as well as reserve a seat.

Who may use the center

A listed on-base site may impose access controls or require military affiliation or sponsorship. Do not assume civilian candidates, dependents, contractors, or veterans are automatically admitted. Check the specific site’s rules and ask the visitor office when necessary. Exam eligibility and installation permission are two separate determinations, and the installation controls access to its property.

The standalone English Life Agent exam is InsTX-Life01. Texas offers other tests, including a combined Life, Accident and Health examination. Select the correct exam title and code. Compare the confirmation with the current outline and your study materials. If only another code appears for a site, do not assume you can substitute Life01 after arrival.

Military installations are select test centers, not a guaranteed network. Seats, hours, and exam delivery vary by location. Search early, compare a public Pearson center if needed, and verify the confirmed appointment. On-base testing requires extra planning for gate approval and travel from the entrance to the testing room.

ID and arrival

Standard Pearson identification and check-in requirements still apply unless your appointment instructions say otherwise. Bring accepted ID matching the legal name in your Pearson account. Arrive according to the handbook and allow more time for base security. Ask the center which gate and building to use; the examination room may be some distance inside the installation.

The site does not alter the Life01 outline or score. Pearson’s 2026 outline lists 80 scored items and 10 pretest questions over 120 minutes. Passing is a scaled 70, not a raw percentage. Candidates follow the same examination rules at an authorized on-base site as at a public center.

If the search does not show Life01 at a base or on your date, use an authorized public Pearson center. The existence of a nearby base does not prove it administers Texas insurance tests. Pearson’s current search is the authority for active locations and bookable dates. Contact Pearson if a listing is unclear.

Military service and license rules

Military service may affect separate licensing assistance or exemptions, but it does not automatically waive the exam. Review TDI’s current life-agent application instructions for qualification rules. This article addresses delivery location only. Do not confuse a convenient testing site with a waiver of exam, education, application, or fingerprint requirements.

Pearson’s handbook says select installations around the globe offer Texas insurance exams. Search the official directory and verify the sponsor and code. If overseas, confirm local time zone, business hours, identity requirements, and cancellation deadlines. A far-away site does not mean an online or remote testing option is available.

The normal Pearson change and missed-exam policies still apply. Read the current handbook before booking. Military duty appears among listed circumstances for requesting an excused absence, but the handbook describes review rather than guaranteed relief. If orders change, contact Pearson promptly, keep the case number, and follow documentation instructions.

Installation security

Follow local restrictions on photography, electronics, vehicles, and personal items. Some items allowed at a public center may be restricted at a gate. Ask the installation and Pearson center what to bring and where belongings can be stored. Do not carry restricted property into the testing facility; comply with base policy and staff instructions.

Confirm the Pearson appointment is active, code is InsTX-Life01, the center location and check-in time are correct, and base entry is approved. Save the confirmation and center contact details. A test appointment alone may not resolve an access problem, and failure to enter the installation can cause a missed exam.
