Two weeks works only for a working technician who already knows the drug classes. Week one on Federal Requirements and calculations, week two on a mock, repair and a second mock.
Honest answer first. Two weeks is viable if you already know the drugs, and is not if you do not.
The test of whether this applies to you
Can you name the class, one indication and one common adverse effect for the major drug groups, now, without studying?
If yes, two weeks is workable. Medications is 28 of the 80 scored questions and you already hold most of it. If no, the arithmetic does not work: there is no way to absorb that domain in a fortnight alongside everything else.
If it does apply
- Days 1 to 4: Federal Requirements, all six knowledge areas, from the regulation
- Days 5 to 7: calculations, concentrated, timed from the start
- Day 8: full timed paper, 90 questions in 110 minutes
- Days 9 to 12: repair the two weakest domains and drill conversions
- Day 13: second full paper
- Day 14: light review, then stop
It is the domain a working technician is weakest on, because the job teaches your state's rules rather than the federal ones. It is also 15 scored questions and entirely learnable from published regulation. In a compressed plan it is the highest-value block, and the instinct to leave it until the end is exactly wrong.
What is abandoned
Depth everywhere. You are securing what you already know and adding the federal domain, not building new knowledge across the paper.
What cannot be abandoned
A full-length timed paper. On a paper allowing about 73 seconds a question, arriving without having sat 90 questions against the clock is the single largest avoidable risk.
The alternative
Move the date. There are no fixed sittings, so a later appointment costs a policy check. An unprepared attempt costs USD 129 and a waiting period before you can try again.
The fee is low enough that people treat a sitting as cheap. The waiting period is the part that is not.
