The examination is computer-based and results are provided at the test center on the day, with a score report showing performance by category.

What you get
A result on the day, and a report breaking your performance down by the twelve content categories.
That breakdown is the useful part after a fail, because it tells you which of the categories cost you the paper.
What it does not tell you
Which questions were the unscored pretest items. Ten of the 125 do not count and they are not identified, which is why the scored total is 115.
Candidates leave and try to work out which questions they got wrong. With 10 unscored items mixed in and no indication of which, that arithmetic cannot be done, and the report you were handed is the answer.
Getting the result to a state
The pass is recorded on the national transcript. Sending it to a licensing board is a separate request, and the board then runs its own review.
If you fail
The report is the diagnostic. Read the category breakdown before booking anything, since a knowledge failure and a timing failure need different responses.
Why same day is possible
The paper is entirely multiple choice and computer delivered, so scoring is automatic. Nothing is hand marked and nothing waits for a panel.
What to do with the report
Keep it. The category breakdown is the only record of where your marks went, and it is the document you will want if you sit again.
Photograph it before it goes in a drawer. Candidates who rebook months later routinely cannot find the one piece of paper that would tell them what to study.
