Holistic means each rater judges the response as a whole rather than adding up points for features. Two of them do it independently. The sum has to reach 6, which is the number Rule 6A-4.0021 states.
What the wait does to your calendar
The thirty-day retake wait runs from the administration, not from the day the result arrives. So most of it has already elapsed by the time you learn you failed the essay, and you can rebook quickly. That is worth knowing before you decide when in the sequence to sit it.
Our view: sit the essay early rather than last. It is the subtest whose result you wait longest for, and it is the one with the lowest published first-attempt pass rate of the four, at 64% in FLDOE's 2025 report. Leaving it until the end stacks the slowest feedback loop against the tightest deadline.
The gap in what we offer, stated plainly
We teach the essay subtest in a chapter of its own and we do not mark essays. No score or readiness figure on this site covers it. Several competitors do offer essay feedback and if that is what you need, buy it from them. Pretending otherwise would be the easiest thing on this page and the least useful.
What we cannot tell you about the score points
The score-point descriptors, meaning what a rater is looking for at each level, are published in the vendor's Test Information Guide. That site blocks automated access, so we have not read it and we do not paraphrase it. The rule gives us eleven skills for the essay competency and a passing total of 6, and that is the extent of what we can source.
